The Discipline of Retreat

Personal Retreat

Elements of an individual silent retreat:

Retreat is the setting aside of an extraordinary amount of time to do something for the sake of the soul (regarding solitude and silence) at an intensity and duration that your ordinary lifestyle doesn’t permit.

Silence

It is the act of our spirit and body with the Holy  Spirit whereby we detach from external noise to cultivate listening to God and ourselves in Truth and Love.

Solitude

Solitude is an act of our body and soul along with the Holy Spirit whereby we detach from our normal human and other finite attachments (relational attachments). The goal behind practicing solitude is to enable our spirit to be unencumbered and open to the truth that our vocation is to be loved by God and to love others.

Individual Retreat

If you would like to go on retreat, please contact me! We can discuss what may be a good schedule as we discern God’s invitation for you as you seek time away together with God.

So you want to go on an individual retreat?

1. Fill out the Contact Card!

Please reach out to me so we can schedule a call. I like to get to know you, and learn about your journey with the Lord to discern together (you, me and God) what retreat structure and setting might work best for you.

2. Schedule a Call with me

When we meet on Zoom (or in person) we co-discern whether it is good for you to go on a silent retreat and, if so,  what retreat to have and for how long.

3. Retreat Schedule and Structure

After we meet on Zoom, I will work on creating a retreat plan for you.

4. Retreat

I encourage people to receive the retreat plan tentatively and to be open to what God might have for you during your time away.

5. Meet for Spiritual Direction

I encourage meeting for a spiritual direction session to reflect on God’s presence with you you during your time away and your experience of silence.
